I finally feel like I can breathe.
Moving into a new home is always an adventure, but our journey was anything but typical. When we made the difficult decision to let our old house go, it was already beyond repair. We were in a bit of a pickle—our baby was on the way, and we needed a new home fast. A manufactured home wasn’t our first choice, but circumstances led us here, and what a journey it’s been.
The plan was to be settled in our new house before the baby arrived, but as life often reminds us, nothing ever goes exactly as planned. Instead, on March 1st, the same day I returned from maternity leave, we finally got the keys to our new home—and to my new studio as well!
Our house is a cozy 2,112 square feet, but it didn’t come without its surprises. Despite custom ordering every detail, everything—trim, color, cabinets, countertops—was wrong. At first, it felt like a disaster, but life has a funny way of working out. The dark trim was quickly replaced with white, and in a twist of fate, I ended up loving the darker floors and marble countertops more than what I had originally chosen. It was a happy accident that made our home feel even more special.
Decorating our new space has been a mix of old and new. Many pieces from my previous studio found a new home here, like the two high-back La-Z-Boy pink chairs that now grace our living room. They add a pop of color and a touch of comfort that feels just right. One of my favorite pieces is the living room rug, a beautiful find from Tammy Eddy Antiques, which ties the space together perfectly.
As you can see in the photos below, our new master bedroom is a serene retreat, featuring a mix of warm wood tones and soft, neutral linens. We even carved out a little spot for the Peloton, keeping everything functional yet stylish. One of my favorite master suite pieces is the UPPAbaby Bassinet stand our sweet angel baby spent his first few months of life in. Now it is our laundry hamper and I feel like it fits the space perfectly.
The kitchen is bright and airy, with Nantucket white cabinets, “marble” countertops, and beautiful wooden beams on the ceiling. Initially the ceiling was stamped with a print that was disgusting IMO, so I had them paint over it with the same Nantucket white that’s on the walls. This space quickly became the heart of our home, perfect for family gatherings and cozy dinners. My favorite part of the kitchen is that fact that our washer and dryer are no longer a part of the kitchen space. We have our own laundry room! WHAT?! AND it has a utility sink, cabinets for storage, and a place for a deepfreeze. Did I mention the small butlers pantry?
Our living room is where we relax and unwind (and sometimes fall asleep on the couch and sleep all night lol). The spacious, comfy sectional and our favorite La-Z-Boy chairs create an inviting atmosphere, perfect for spending time together as a family or even hosting bible study groups. The decor blends rustic elements with soft textures, making the room feel both modern and cozy.
The nursery is the smaller room (we have a 3 bedroom), but it’s the perfect space for our sweet baby while I use the larger guest room (pictured at the top) for my office.
Finally, the master bathroom is our little spa-like haven. The double vanity and freestanding tub offer a touch of luxury, making it the perfect place to unwind after a long day.
Though this wasn’t the path we initially envisioned, our new home has become a place of warmth and happiness. It’s a reminder that even when things don’t go as planned, they can still turn out beautifully.
We’re excited to share these photos of our new space with you all—every room holds a story, and we’re thrilled to make new memories here.
