Sessions: Tips, Tricks, & Ideas

Football season is HERE! That means summer is winding down. I’ll be glad to see the heat go (…maybe, we do live in Alabama.)

I’m excited to collaborate with Lily Oak Farms to offer one final opportunity to capture the beauty of the season. September 7 is your last chance to take advantage of this picturesque setting before the flowers bid us farewell until next year. Go ahead and book, then keep reading for FAQ’s.

“Flower pictures are not for little boys?” Yeah, I thought the same thing, until I saw what I captured. I was in awe (especially at the next 3 photos). His radiant smile against the backdrop of these vibrant blooms was nothing short of magical. I never imagined that these photos would be so perfectly suited for a little boy, but they truly are!

Other than for my sweet baby boy, this session would be perfect for: couples, individual portraits, professional headshots in an outdoor setting, small kids, or groups under 3 (maybe 4) people.

What to Expect:

  1. The Last Blooms: After a pretty dry season, the flowers are starting to fade. This is the last weekend they have these beautiful blooms, so let’s not miss our chance to capture them.
  2. Close-Up and Waist-Up Shots: Due to the black tarp between the rows, most of the shots will be close-up or waist-up. While it might sound limiting, this setup actually allows for some of the most “airy” and dreamy images. The focus will be on the subject’s expression and the vibrant colors around them, creating a soft, ethereal effect that is simply stunning.
  3. Black Tarp: While some may not think it’s ideal, the black tarp is there to help protect the plants and retain moisture. But don’t worry—I work my magic to ensure it’s not a distraction in your photos (although it may make an appearance as you can see in some of these photos). Instead, the attention will be on the subject surrounded by all the natural beauty.
