This Saturday, I’ll have the absolute pleasure of capturing Sadie and Matthew’s big day, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ve been looking forward to this ever since I photographed their engagement session in the stunningly picturesque Winter Park, Florida.
When Sadie and Matthew first invited me to fly down for their engagement session, I knew it would be special, but the experience exceeded every expectation. From the moment I arrived, I got straight to work scouting locations. Once they both finished up their workday, we kicked off their session at the beautiful Kraft Azalea Gardens. The azaleas may not have been in bloom, but the lush Spanish moss draping the trees by the lake made up for it tenfold. It was a serene, dreamlike setting.
After our time at the gardens, we made our way to downtown Winter Park, which quickly became my favorite town in the Orlando area. Honestly, I had no idea how charming this town was, and now, I’d love to live there! The brick-lined streets, boutique shops, and lakeside views left me in awe. We managed to capture some amazing shots, but as the sun began to set, we decided to pause and pick back up the next day.
One of the perks of having me fly in for your session? Flexibility! With the luxury of time, we planned to meet again the following day for their second outfit. I spent the morning exploring Winter Park, starting my day at a cozy coffee shop, shopping around, and even hopping on a boat tour that took me around the lakes. I also visited the Tiffany glass art museum, which was absolutely breathtaking.
I was staying with the sweetest couple, Pam and Cal, who welcomed me into their beautiful lakeside home. After some relaxation (and a well-needed nap), I prepared for the evening session with Sadie and Matthew. Before they were ready, I had the chance to photograph Sadie’s wonderful grandparents, Mike and Mary, who had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. What a treat it was to capture such a milestone for such a kind couple!
For the final part of the engagement session, we went to Interlachen Country Club, where Matthew teaches croquet lessons. We spent some time taking photos on the pristine golf course before ending the evening on the croquet court. Matthew is a professional croquet player, which made for some truly unique and creative shots. These ended up being some of my favorite images because they were so different from anything I’d done before. Sadie and Matthew were so open to my ideas, and their trust made this entire session a dream.
As their wedding day approaches, I’m beyond thrilled to document their love story once again. I can’t wait to get creative and capture all the magic of their special day! Stay tuned for more photos from their wedding—this is just the beginning.
